Values Mapping for Planning in Regional Ecosystems: Mojave Trails National Monument, California, 2024
Values Mapping for Planning in Regional Ecosystems (VaMPIRE) is a Public Participatory GIS tool developed by the U.S. Geological Survey in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management to aid in gathering information from the public about their values for public lands and waters. This contains data from 121 surveys returned in 2024 for the Mojave Trails National Monument in California. Data were collected by the VaMPIRE online application. Data collected include respondent experience use history, spatial data from the online mapping application for locations valued by respondents, specific activities/uses for values, hypothetical substitution questions in response to a recreational facility development scenario, and demographics. The data includes both the raw survey data (VaMPIRE_MTNM_responsedata.csv) and an explanation of the values follow-up questions that vary based on the values selected (VaMPIRE_values_questions.csv).
