As part of the Steller sea lion research project, the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center Marine Mammal Laboratory, Alaska Ecosystem Program, has conducted surveys of Steller sea lions in Alaska since 1904. This dataset contains counts of adult and juvenile (non-pup) Steller sea lions on rookeries and haul-outs in Alaska made between 1904 and 2015, and counts of Steller sea lion pups from 1961 - 2019. Counts and corresponding geographic coordinates were collected by observers from terrestrial, aerial, ship, and unoccupied aircraft surveys.
