Sediment Budget and Geochemistry Data for the Little Fork River Basin, Minnesota, 2021-2022

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: September 05, 2025 | Last Modified: 20250711
The Little Fork River in northern Minnesota provides a disproportionate source of sediment to the Rainy-Lake of the Woods Basin and has been a focal point for monitoring and management over the past decade. To address excess sediment and associated P in the Little Fork River, an improved understanding of the sediment sources and sediment-bound P is needed. Geochemical sediment fingerprinting and sediment budget techniques have been identified to address this issue. This data release provides data collected and produced to support that effort including: sediment sample geochemistry results, rapid geomorphic assessment data, and a stream network attributed with sediment budget estimates.
