Sea surface salinity, partial pressure of carbon dioxide - water, temperature and others from platform IMOCA 60 11th hour racing / 1 degree as part of The Ocean Race - Racing with Purpose project in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2020-08-01 to 2020-11-05 (NCEI Accession 0224417)
This dataset consists of surface underway measurements of partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water, sea surface temperature, salinity and pH collected by IMOCA 60 11th hour racing / 1 degree in 2020 as part of The Ocean Race - Racing with Purpose project. For oceanographic observations, the 6th generation OceanPack by SubCtech is used to measure fCO2(pCO2,xCO2), sea surface salinity and sea surface temperature. The sampled water was pumped from the keel inlet of an average depth of 1.5 m for continuous measurements. Zero-calibrations were set to every 24 h and autonomous span CO2 gas calibration were set to once every 36 h to save gas for their return at Leg2 in November. The observations during the transatlantic crossing from France to the U.S.A. were conducted in the first two weeks of August und its return from the End of October to November 2021. The signal loss in Leg1 in the centre of the North Atlantic is related to a loose GPS cable connection and the signal loss on Leg2 in November was connected to a malfunction of the Licor due to shock damage.
