San Francisco Bay Area Network Coastal Biophysical Inventory Project Database

Published by National Park Service | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: June 25, 2025 | Last Modified: 2008-01-01
In 2002 Point Reyes National Seashore (PORE) and Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA), formed a cooperative agreement with University of California, Davis, to conduct a coastal biophysical inventory project. This project included substrate, marine algae, and invertebrate surveys conducted in the intertidal. These data were compiled into the Coastal Biophysical Inventory Database (Microsoft Access). This user-friendly database allows researchers, park managers, and the public to “virtually walk” the coast via maps and ground photos, and to view both biotic and abiotic information about the parks’ coastal resources.
