Red River of the North low flow water-balance model and supporting data

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: July 15, 2025 | Last Modified: 20250204
A water-balance model of the Red River Basin upstream from Emerson, Manitoba was coupled with stochastic weather inputs to simulate possible future low-streamflow conditions and to present results of model simulations for evaluating the risk of drought in the Red River Basin upstream from Emerson, Manitoba. The data release directories contain model, land cover analysis, ancillary, and output folders with the necessary files for the running the model and producing results: (1) The folder “model” contains all the necessary files for running the water balance model and experiments for running the model with stochastically generated weather.; 2) The folder “land cover analysis” contains the data sources and code used to perform the land cover analysis for the Red River Basin North of Emerson, Manitoba.; 3) The folder “ancillary” contains code and analysis used to support the main model runs and analysis within the “model” folder. ; 4) The folder “output” is initially set up to be empty. But this folder is designated to be the output folder for all the figures and tables generated by the scripts within the “model” folder. This USGS data release contains all input and output files for the model described in the associated report (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20255002).
