Positive openness for the Delaware River Basin

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: September 04, 2025 | Last Modified: 20250414
In support of the U.S. Geological Survey Water Mission Area’s assessment of Integrated Water Science (IWS) basins across the United States (Van Metre and others, 2020), this data release contains a positive openness raster dataset that was developed for the Delaware River Basin. The raster was developed to help characterize the landscape and channel features within the Delaware River Basin for potential use in examining sediment source and transport processes. Digital elevation models with 3-meter resolution representing years 2004 to 2015 were used to generate the positive openness raster which represents the degree of incision across the landscape, where smaller values indicate greater incision. This data release contains the raster file "Positive_openness_DRB.tif" and associated metadata.xml file describing the development of the positive openness raster.
