Pollen data from surface samples collected in the lower Roanoke River Basin, North Carolina
Pollen data were generated from 120 surface samples collected in known vegetation classes in the Lower Roanoke River Basin, North Carolina to support paleoecological research on long-term patterns of vegetation, fire, and climate in the southeastern United States (Willard et al., 2011). Raw counts of pollen data from the surface samples are provided, along with landform of collection site and modeled hydroperiod for the site (days inundated per year). Pollen and geochronologic data also are provided for a sediment core (01-10-11-4) collected in a backswamp along the Roanoke River.
