Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Metadata Last Checked: October 13, 2025 | Last Modified: 2002-02-19T00:00:00.000+00:00
This data set was created to accommodate a wide range of data on the phytoplankton Karenia brevis. It is designed to efficiently capture core information, yet have the capacity to expand and capture related sampling information if it is available. The data may be useful for studying red tide bloom events along the Texas coastline. The minimum parameters required in order for a sample record to be entered into the database are a K. brevis count (in cells per liter), the date when the water sample was collected, a description of where the water sample was taken, and the salinity and water temperature at this point.
