MLPA Marine Habitat Matrix Geoprocessing Model
An ArcGIS geoprocessing model built upon a personal geodatabase (.mdb file) with stored access queries and functions which output formatted results. The data summaries and report formats are consistent with those used in MPA planning throughout the MLPA implementation process. The model classifies marine habitats across the following categories:
+ Depth (min and max)
+ Intertidal shoreline type (beaches, rocky, tidal flat, coastal marsh)
+ Coastal marsh areas beyond estuaries
+ Estuaries
+ Surfgrass
+ Eelgrass
+ Predicted benthic substrate type (hard or soft, stratified by depth)
+ Kelp canopy (1989, 1999, 2002 – 2006, 2008, average)
+ Submarine canyons stratified by depth
