Imagery data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River

Published by National Park Service | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: June 25, 2025 | Last Modified: 2015-01-01
This reference contains the imagery data used in the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Orthophotos, raw imagery, and scanned aerial photos are common files held here. The vegetation map for Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River was based primarily on the 2015 TOP orthoimagery. However, both the 2012 and 2016 NAIP products were used to help delineate confusing upland areas, areas with dark shadows, and rapidly changing areas along the Rio Grande River. In general, the RIGR vegetation map should be considered a snapshot in time directly relating to the 2015 TOP imagery. By comparing the signatures on the imagery to field data, 47 map units (40 vegetated and 7 land-use/land-cover) were developed and used to delineate the vegetation.
