Groundwater Drought Metrics for Selected Groundwater Wells in the conterminous U.S. from 1981-2020 and from 2001-2020

This metadata record describes a series of datasets containing metrics used to characterize drought for groundwater wells in the conterminous United States (CONUS). This data is associated with a publication that looks to answer questions about groundwater drought in CONUS. The publication uses the time periods 1981-2020 and 2001-2020, but this dataset includes additional time periods like 1971-2020 and 1991-2020 that were additionally analyzed. Time periods use climate years, April 1 through March 31. These metrics include groundwater level percentiles, identified drought events, annual low water level drought statistics, and various attributes for each of those events. This dataset contains the following: ===== 1) Annual_Drought_Statistics.zip: A zipped csv file that contains annual drought and groundwater level metrics for each well for each period of interest. 2) Annual_Drought_Statistics_Subset_for_Paper.zip: A zipped csv file that contains annual drought and groundwater level metrics for each well for each period of interest, subset to a smaller number of values used directly in the paired manuscript. 3) Drought_Properties.csv: A csv file that contains properties for each of the groundwater drought events for each well for each period of interest. 4) Drought_Summaries.csv: A csv file that contains a summary for all of the groundwater drought events for each well for each period of interest. 5) Groundwater Percentile zip files: Zip files for each period of interest containing csv files for all of the groundwater-level percentiles for each well. 6) Groundwater_Metadata.csv: Metadata for describing each well. 7) Metadata_Supporting_Information.zip: Some additional metadata documents that were used for developing the primary Groundwater_Metadata.csv file which includes additional documentation for each well from the source of either NWIS or NGWMN. Note that not all wells included in these files are constrained to CONUS and that these wells are included for completeness despite being outside of the spatial domain of the rest of the study. 8)GRACE_ Annual_Drought_Statistics.zip: A zipped csv file that contains annual drought and groundwater metrics for GRACE-DADM pixels corresponding to wells. 9) GRACE_ Annual_Drought_Statistics_Subset_for_Paper.zip: A zipped csv file that contains annual drought and groundwater metrics for GRACE-DADM pixels corresponding to wells, subset to a smaller number of values used directly in the paired manuscript. 10) GRACE_ Drought_Properties.csv: A csv file that contains properties for each of the groundwater drought events for GRACE-DADM pixels corresponding to wells. 11)GRACE_ Drought_Summaries.csv: A csv file that contains a summary for all of the groundwater drought events for GRACE-DADM pixels corresponding to wells 12)GRACE_percentiles_assim zip files: Zip file containing csv files for all of the GRACE=DADM groundwater percentiles corresponding to each well. 13) Annual_Stats_Data_Dictionary.csv: a data dictionary describing the different measures of drought in the Annual Drought Statistics files.
