Geospatial data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site
The files linked to this reference are the geospatial data created as part of the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Current format is ArcGIS file geodatabase but older formats may exist as shapefiles.
The map units assigned to the delineated polygons on the aerial photographs were derived from the preliminary list of NVC types provided by NatureServe. Additional data and information were gleaned from a field visit and incorporated into the final list of map units. Because of the small size of HUTR and the large amount of field data, the map units are equivalent to existing NVC vegetation alliances and associations or local associations/descriptions. Four attributes were associated with each polygon: (1) map unit, (2) height, (3) density, and (4) coverage pattern of the vegetation.
