Dust flux and ecological flux predictor data following utility-scale solar energy development in the Mojave Desert, 2023-2025

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: September 21, 2025 | Last Modified: 20250919
These data were compiled to evaluate the impacts of large-scale solar energy development on wind-borne dust production. Objectives of the study were to evaluate dust produced during construction and operation of solar energy facilities constructed using varying construction methods. We also collected data on plant and soil variables that are known to be important predictors of dust. These data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in the Mojave Desert, northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on land administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) between 2023 and 2025.
