Convex Hulls for Species Richness and Individual Species

Published by U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) | U.S. Environmental Protection Agency | Metadata Last Checked: June 27, 2025 | Last Modified: 2023-11-15
These are .tiff files, with bands for total distance to the convex hull (Distance), as well as individual distances for the 5 dimensions of pH (pH), precipitation (Precipitation), temperature (Temperature), nitrogen deposition (Nitrogen), and sulfur deposition (Sulfur). Note that for open and closed canopy convex hulls, sulfur was not included in the original analysis (Simkin et al. 2016) and thus are not included in the convex hulls. The units for all distances are in standard deviations (based on Mahalanobis distance). Distances are unitless and based on Mahalanobis distance. This dataset is not publicly accessible because: The files are too big for Science Hub (15.9 GB). It can be accessed through the following means: Email Christopher Clark (clark.christopher@epa.gov) for access to the data. Format: The data are .tif files for convex hulls for richness (2 convex hulls, open and closed canopy communities) and species (198 convex hulls). This dataset is associated with the following publication: Clark, C.M., G.D. Martin, J.N. Phelan, M.D. Bell, and J.A. Lynch. Developing spatially explicit critical loads for herbaceous species across the United States using convex hulls. ECOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS. Ecological Society of America, Ithaca, NY, USA, 35(2): e70006, (2025).
