Through the webinar series, “Back to Basics”, the Division of State Systems within the Children’s Bureau, is offering a venue for information sharing and discussion. The fourth webinar of the series, “Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them”, reviews nine common pitfalls associated with building and maintaining child welfare information systems including: lack of user involvement; poorly defined requirements; scope creep, lack of a change control system, poor testing, under-allocated resources, system performance issues, lack of a high-functioning user help desk and poor vendor relationship.
