Published by University of Idaho | University of Idaho | Metadata Last Checked: July 09, 2025 | Last Modified: 2019-12-19T22:23:42.000Z
<div>This presentation was created by University of Idaho undergraduate student Denessy Rodriguez as part of her 2018 Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning Undergraduate Fellowship. This presentation was supplemented by work Rodriguez did as a research assistant working with Syringa Mobile Home Park. She recieved assistance writing the story from Dr. Leontina Hormel, a sociology professor who has worked closely with the former Syringa community. </div><div><br /></div><div>The Closure of Syringa Mobile Home Park is a summary of the events at Syringa Mobile Home Park, a park outside of Moscow, ID, that eventually led to its closure in June 2018. In order to compare Syringa to state and national trends, Idaho and national maps are included amongst the story. The Idaho maps were created using ArcGIS online, and the national maps come from the Esri Database. Mobile home parks are the largest source of non subsidized affordable housing. The increasing rate of park closure is yet another example of housing insecurity in America. </div>
