Deployment of a Slocum glider with a thermal-recharging engine. Low-cost, high energy density, safe, long-duration easily recharged power supplies have been identified as a high priority technology in themost recent Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Master Plan. This project is designed to address the underwater energy issue by using phase change materials to harvest the ocean's thermal engery for battery recharging. The Slocum thermal glider clark represents the culmination of these efforts. This dataset contains CTD profiles to demonstrate the impact of the thermal glider data in the Caribbean on hurricane intensity forecasting as well as investigate water mass transport through the Anegada Passage.
