Annual SUHI Landsat collection 2 MeanLST in 71 urban centers of CONUS from 1985 to 2023

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: August 25, 2025 | Last Modified: 20250701
Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) maximum land surface temperature (MeanLST) data is derived from Collection 2 Landsat U.S. Analysis Ready Data (ARD) for Surface Temperature. We calculated the annual temperature was identified from all clear observations during year. The annual mean temperature (MeanLST) therefore represents the average of all clear observations in a specific year for a specific pixel. Data are provided across 71 urban centers (regions) throughout the Continental U.S. generated annual MeanLST. The data ranges from 1985-2023, and covers data within all ARD tiles that the urban center is located. NOTE: While a previous version is available from the author, all datasets for pilot cities can be found in previous versions.
